Memory Myth

We cannot ‘lose our memory’ – because memory belongs to the present, not the past.
Noticeable changes to our way of functioning in daily life can create concerns when misunderstood. To the awakening soul, it is essential to be aware of invisible inner change that inevitably finds expression on the outside, and not assume it is caused by easily identified changes such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause, aging, an illness or distressing news.
A good example of change is ‘loss of memory’ – often attributed to the stresses of overworking, illness or most commonly, to ageing. How quickly we attach labels and assume the cause to be the obvious.
We are often slow to consider inherent internal changes occurring as we raise our conscious awareness and vibrational frequencies. I had noticed my once excellent memory drifting out to sea, occasionally turning around to wave a fond farewell to its dear friend. The more I raised my vibrational frequency, the further away it drifted. Had I mentioned this to a doctor (unlikely, as I haven’t seen one for twenty years), no doubt I’d be kindly reminded that it was all part of aging, something one must accept.
Bollocks! My ‘memory loss’ began when I was in my fifth decade. Many of my younger awakened friends in their third and fourth decades share my experience; they simply can’t recall stuff like they used to.
At first I was irritated by this change to my mental faculties, until understanding I didn’t need to store erroneous information anymore. Besides, I no longer believed what I had learned from books and others, and no longer wanted to access information of the old earth. I also noticed my desire to talk less and to only speak about topics that held depth.
Memory is not needed when we speak of truths that we organically ‘Know.’ We simply channel them in the moment of the conversation.
'When one speaks from the heart, we need no rehearsal’
So, I was delighted to stumble across one of my favourite teachers, Bashar, who describes the phenomenon of memory loss so well I’ve borrowed his words.
“Evolved beings do not have memory. They know what they need to when they need to. Humans have always thought of memory as belonging to the past, but it is actually created in the present.
When you live in the present moment, you don’t need memory.
What happens is that you receive information in each moment based on two things – the frequency you are vibrating at, and what is appropriate for your needs at that moment.”
In closing, if memory belongs to the present, we cannot lose it, for we have it right now. As for losing our marbles, well, that’s another story...
